Gaillac wine region...

Salles is close to the border of the Tarn, Tarn Et Garonne and the Aveyron regions. The Tarn is one of the most attractive and geographically stunning regions of France, with spectacular river gorges, dense forested hills and wide swathes of gently rolling countryside. All this coming up from the sides of the beautiful River Tarn. This landscape is ideal for the thing the French love most - growing vines. The region for wines is know as the Gaillac region. This region has been producing wine since the Roman times, estimated to be around 125BC, with the current vineyard being well established from 1AD. So as you can imagine they know a bit about producing good quality wines. They have several award winning wines to their name. The local supplier of Gaillac wines can be found just a short trip from Salles at Maz D'Aurel. For organic wines there is also a good vineyard in Andillac.
