Things to do in the Cerou Valley

Salles is situated on the banks of the river Cerou in the heart of Cerou Valley, deep in rural south western France. Just 8km from the medieval town of Cordes sur Ciel, and about 20kms from the cultural town of Albi with its famous 12th century cathedral of Saint-Cecile and the Toulouse Lautrec museum. There are many activities available locally to help brush off the toils of work and allow you to relax and unwind as you wish, and many walks and areas of interest to see both locally and within an hours drive. There are several restaurants in the adjacent village of Monesties (5km) and the medieval town of Cordes Sur Ciel (8km). Of course the one next door to these homes is the closest and has a reknown reputation, but you will need to pre-book. There are many others in the surrounding villages offering a variety of local produce and traditional French gastronomic delights.

Local activites:

Walking, fishing, cycling, canoeing, golf, markets and fetes. We can strongly recommend Kayaking in the Averyron. We went to Najac where we spent half a day for just 15Euro each (2007 price), it was very good and all levels are catered for. Well worth spending a day there. For those that feel they may miss the beach, locally there is a very large lake Retenue de la Roucarie, that offers many water sports. The lake has several beach areas and offers a good picnic day out. All the houses have leaflets and posters with lots of events and places of interest in and around the area.

Places of interest.

Albi, Cordes, Gorges du Tarn, Gorges of the Averyron. The Millau Viaduct , the worlds tallest road bridge, a very impressive structure that rises over 300m into the sky. The Gaillac vineyards, Cap decouverte sports and leisure centre.
